Thinking of changing my boat from Searay 275 (260)Sundancer with single VOLVO kAD 44 inboard diesel with 290 outdrive to a Cranchi Zaffiro 34 with twin volvo 43 diesels. Does anybody know what the fuel economy would be approximately on a 34 in comparison? Are we talking double consumption ?
Does anyone know the Cranchi 34 and know whether they are a good boat, or indeed if there are any problems to look out for?? The boat will be for use in the South of France.

You can expect a consumption ranging from 50 lph at slower cruising speed (20-22kts) to 75 lph or so at 26-27kts.
Just do the math if you're interested in gph or mpg.

Fantastic boat for the size and money. we did approx 120 hours last year on our previous boat, 2003 Z34 with kad 43,s.
I can agree with Mapism.

I had KAD43's in a Bavaria 330 Sport. Ok, so a bit smaller than the Z34, but close enough to give you a rough idea.

I found that at pretty much any speed between 2200rpm and 3100rpm I was using acheiving about 1.9mpg in a neutral sea.
I had real time consumption flow meters on board which gave accurate consumption figures and an instant mpg.

at 2200 rpm she used around 48 litres per hour, at 3100 rpm she used around 69 litres per hour. The use in between was pretty linea as the actual range stayed pretty much the same.

Go over 3100 rpm and it really started to drink. WOT was 3600 rpm on my boat and it was using 130 litres per hour, but giving 36 knts

Well, actually I was also talking about the 43...
Mind, I had the Z34/KAD43 just for one season, and never cared to accurately measure the consumption, 'cause I didn't use her for long journeys. But 60 L/h. at 26kts, that's rather optimistic imho.
Can't remember exactly the rpm at 26kts, but flat out at 3700 the boat just reached 33kts.
Nothing to call home about, really - though good enough for that kind of boat.
According to what I heard, the latest models (with the electronic 260hp Volvos) are both significantly faster and less thirsty - but I don't know exactly how much.
