Be vigilant. I wondered why my boat was listing, until I discovered that what I thought was two full tanks was one, minus 150 litres on the port side. That's the side facing the river.

I've noticed an increase in river crime in the past few years, with no river Police and EA patrols as rare as hens teeth, I suppose it's to be expected

What might be a neat idea is to leave a 5 gal jerry can, labelled Petrol (or Diesel) on the deck, and spike it with sugar or castor oil.

Evil but great idea. Then just look for the dead Narrowboats who have received retribution

After several fuel thefts in our area people started doing that.

Funnily enough there have been no fuel thefts for a while
