Fuel Tanks - Winter

A couple of year ago I did a PowerBoat level 2 course and was told that over winter you should always leave your tanks full to the brim to stop and condensation forming on the top of the tank and dripping water into the fuel.

Is this sound advise?

I hope so as I have just filled up with 650l of fuel.

Fill it up and leave no or very little airspace. You'll not have a a problem with condensation.

Yep, it is sound advice. You've done the right thing, don't want those nasty bugs in the tank!

It is accepted wisdom but, for what it's worth, I've never done it mostly due to forgetfullness and never had any problem the following season. I do make sure the boat is heated and dehumidified though

We always fill our tanks to the brim over winter, we also put in an additive which is supposed to stop condensation forming, not sure how. But if it does what it says on the bottle I am happy!

I think it is definitely worth doing, water in the system is a pain in the a^%$ to get rid of.
