Fuel tank leak

Maybe it's just a space with the hull beneath it and that moulding bonded to the hull, if that is a cable going through the moulding and it isn't sealed diesel will have gone into whatever is under the moulding

The boat ribs are hollow and have holes in them to allow bilge water to flow aft to the bilge pump

Impressive
Inner mouldings are a whole subspecies of A Bad Place..

Bet you are glad you finally found a proactive yard , well done .

Meanwhile , your unburnt diesel is … appreciating in value ?
Thanks Bluey? they will pump the tank (probably 200 liters in it) but no mention of them giving it back?

The mystery is more of... the fiberglass liner under the engine and tank...is there a hole in that underneath the tank?

Looking at the pictures I suspect that the space under the liner and tank is contiguous with the space and hull that can be seen where the prop shaft coupling is poking out of a hole. It may well be that there are a few ribs with limber holes in between.
I suspect that it will be a solid shelf and part of the genera liner moulding under the tank if not then the diesel will have then gone straight into the bottom of the hull and only found its way under the engine when the level was sufficiently high to either overflow at the opening where the prop shaft is or weep through the little hole where the cable comes out which could gradually get blocked and reduce the flow. It all depends on the level of the boat and how it sits in the water or cradle and is all speculation. However we will know soon enough but the suspense is killing us all. ?

Of course it’s not just the way the boat sits on land, sea and crane...on the way to the boatyard I was going fast and I forgot that the controls on my hydraulic flaps don’t work (another little job that I meant to do then clean forgot ?) so I went all the way with the boat’s nose facing the sky

If you can't control your flaps hydraulic or not it's bound to give rise to some consternation and fluid loss  ?
I think it’s just a gremlin in the switch on the dash... I wasn’t even going to mention it...in case Vas is reading this?‍♂️

Good work - quick progress from the yard, they're not messing around.

Should be done in a few days....
...and here we should all mention that this could have had happened 4-5months ago, done and dusted!

I'm reading :p

tbh I'm actually impressed you finally DID something (re fuel leak)

so following easter w/e we should start getting our weekly installments of SOF pics with empty bays?

V.

This looks really encouraging. With the engine coming out so easily the tank's very accessible and it should be a straightforward job.
Also the yard boss has experience in getting a tank rewelded (if it’s a weld seam that split) so potentially could save a lot of time and money

Would you really want to do that knowing one of the welds failed and another could be just about to fail?
