took the lid off the inspection hatch on my fuel tank today. it's an ally tank which has a square piece of ally about 12" square that is bolted to the top to seal the inspection hatch. It has a gasket in between the 2 surfaces that looks like to be cork ?? which is possibly 4-5mm thick that i want to replace.

Can anybody suggest where i might get one / some gasket sheet that i can cut to size or an alternative. don't really want to put silicone between the two.

As ever TA ! :D

Hi Aidy,

You can get gasket card/paper from many motor factors and cork sheeting is available from specialist hobby shops like Hobbycraft.

Aye do not use silicone. Drops may fall into the tank as you tighten down the securing nuts/bolts.

I used CT1 as a gasket for my inspection hatch on the diesel tank. Excellent stuff. Resistant to petrol and oil as well.
