In the process of installing new engine and I need to fit new 8mm dia fuel pick up and return dip tubes - does anyone know where these can be purchased, lots on the internet but they are all for heaters and only 3mm dia

Many thanks

If you're fitting a new tank why hasn't the supplier already dealt with that? If you're keeping the old tank what's wrong with the existing pipes?

Its the existing tank, which has the fuel supply coming from the bottom of the tank meaning any water or contamination goes directly into the filters/engine - I would like to install a dip tube to draw fuel from above the tank bottom (and retain the existing fitting to provide a drain point)
The existing set up doesnt have a fuel return back to the tank

Righto; most primary filter heads have additional ports that a fuel return can be connected to, no need to go all the way back to the tank. Are you sure the existing tank supply is right from the bottom? It would be unusual to be so for the reason you outline, it will send dirt and water into the supply; could there be an internal pipe that draws from a distance above the tank bottom?

Thanks Penfold,

I will check out the filter arrangement
Yes, the existing supply is right from the bottom of the tank with no internal pipe - the bottom of the tank is v shaped and the supply comes right from the bottom - this appears to be the original set up

What's the arrangement at the bottom of the tank? it may be possible to retrofit something if access allows.

Unfortunately the Vetus product will not fit as top of tank is only 25mm below the cockpit sole

I have cut an access hatch on top of the tank so can get good access

Something like the various pick up pipes for the heaters would be ideal but in larger diameter but cant seem to find anything

How big is your access hatch, could the pickup and return be fitted to it? All you need is bulkhead unions, or get threaded stubs welded onto the lid.

Find a local hydraulic supply shop and ask them questions around 8mm tube in either carbon or stainless steel with fittings to suit.
Here's one such.......https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=404 - Pirtek
There are many others.
