I had a bit of a problem with diesel starvation. Traced to some grot in the stopcock on the exit from the fuel tank. Since I have the Steel tank out now I wish to give its insides a good clean. Professionally they steam clean them. I couls give this a go with the wall paper stripper but am not sure whether the lack of pressure and temperature will simply leave me with a residue of water thus adding to my problems. Any other technique anyone can recommend gratefully recieved!

I attacked mine with a pressure washer. Cleaned all the crud out a treat. Then let it dry out for 48hrs before refitting and filling it. Not a fancy pressure washer either. Did the job at my local garage, got some funny looks though!

You could give it a good blast with a pressure washer which is what i did or take it down to your local car valeting centre and ask them to use their steam cleaner on it.The trick is getting it dry, i put it about one foot above the gas BBQ set on low power for one hour or so with a blast from a hair dryer to shift the moisture laden air about every ten mins.Donot let it get to hot.
