Who would be interested in the vacuum between the tank and the filter if not for fault finding a clogged pickup tube in the tank?

No malice can be implied from my posts, so no apology is required. I entered a discussion and challenged your position, I was wrong and your position was acknowledged as being correct which is both sufficient and the right thing to do when one is wrong in this manner. If I had used derogatory terms towards you in dismissing your position then I would accept your point about an apology.
