As I have not bought a boat yet can I have some idea of fuel prices on the Thames and around the Solent. Is it cheaper than filling up at a petrol station when I am towing?

Which fuel - Petrol or diesel?
Last time I noticed petrol prices, it was £1.30 a litre on the Hamble.
Same pontoon, diesel was £0.89 a litre, with the 60/40 split applied.

If it's petrol you're after then it will be considerably cheaper to buy from a petrol station, rather than at some alongside quay/pontoon.
Diesel - then better off at the latter.
For actual prices there's a dedicated section here , though it isn't added to very often.
