Having done a spot check on the fuel pipes on my boat (1990 Sealine 218-volvo penta 4.3l petrol), I noticed the pipe leading from the tank to the regulator switch was perishing and the exp date was 2003! On looking at the writing on the pepe it said it was 30Bar/430psi Iso 4079 and DN10. The question is-do I need such a high pressure hosepipe for this function? Seems terribly high (30bar) to suck petrol up from tank? Also the ISO number is out of date as I was told I need ISO 7840-is this correct? Cheers

The last fuel hose I bought (in 2010) was marked ISO 7840. As it's basically working in a suction environment it doesn't need to be a high pressure hose. The one I bought was marked as "low permeation",

you do need the iso 7840 material to pass a boat safety certificate. its good practice any way as its designed and tested to last a long time with petrol etc running through it. The pressure is not an issue as you are sucking not blowing. you can get it from ASAP supplies by the metre.
