Fuel pipe and fittings

last weekend the diesel supply pipe fractured just after the tank fuel cock, so obviously I need to replace it. I'd like to replace the previous copper pipe with flexible pipe. It doesn't need to be Yanmar OEM - I just need pipe and compression fittings that will screw into the CAV filter

Does anyone know anywhere in the Ipswich area that is likely to supply pipe and suitable fittings and will be open on a Saturday morning? I tried eastern hose on the Farthing Road estate but they couldn't match the fittings. They think I may need an auto factor. Anyone have any thoughts?

You're probably better off looking for a lorry spares place, they tend to use the pipes i think you're talking about. But, you should be able to get hose tails to screw into the tap and the filter.
 
I would try Diesco in Hawks Rd. Not used them but they are local.
I have used Anglia Hose and Hydraulics in Stanway. They managed to cobble my fuel supply pipe even though they didn't have the right bits. Worth going there just for the craic.�� . Otherwise Colchester Fuel Injection, but not local
Not sure if any are open on Sats but worth a phone call
 
Thanks both for the thoughts. I know Diesco, having used them in the past for injector servicing, but hadn't thought of them for this job.. Worth a call in the morning. Also Wrightparts on Farthing Rd who do truck spares may be worth a call.
 
Be careful of the fitting into the CAV filter, it can be imperial or metric ! you can also get the fittings and pipe from Hydraulis hose fitters. Also if you ever need a BSC flexible hoses must be " as short as is practical"
 
Thanks to all for the suggestions. It has proved incredibly difficult to find anywhere on a Saturday morning which is a) open and b) able to help. There is a special look that comes over people's faces when they are examining a piece of kit that they don't immediately recognise, followed by a look of relief when they are able to say 'sorry mate, we don't have anything like that, try xxxxxx down the road (who of course have already referred me to the current emporium)

Anyway it looks as if my Jerry built fuel system is a combination of 8mm copper heating pipe coupled into a smaller diameter fuel tap. It is probably 30 years old. With a bit of ingenuity and engineering excellence involving a pair of adjustable pliers and a hammer I have managed to cobble together something which doesn't leak and supplies fuel to the engine. With luck it'll last the rest of the season until I can do a proper job.
 
I have had some success in finding 'bits' at Thurlow Nunn Standen in Melton (just outside Woodbridge).

The shop is for agricultural machinery and tractors but they do have fuel hoses and fittings.

The staff there were always helpful so it may be worth a shot
