Fuel mix for 1986 Mariner

I looking to find the correct fuel mix for a 1986 Mariner 4hp (2 stroke) out board. I'm using 50:1 and it seems OK but it would be nice to know what I should be mixing the fuel to.

50:1 is the safe mix for just about all outboards, except Seagulls, produced since around 1970,

Even if you find the manual says 100:1 run it on 50:1 as sailor man suggests

You should in anycase down load yourself the Owners manual from http://download.brunswick-marine.com/download/main;jsessionid=105vjo07c1lcd?type=corp
It will tell you all you need to know about operating the engine and what routine servicing it will require.

Not always easy to find the right manual though, Best to specify "outboard " but not limit the search to any particular year.

Whilst on the subject. I have a mariner 4hp longshaft no longer required VGC looking for a swap for shortshaft. Anytakers?
