Fuel Gauge

I've just replaced the VDO lever type gauge for our diesel tank and the new one is working backwards! Is there an easy fix for this as my soldering skills are poor?

Have you by chance bought America spec? Euro spec the resistance is the other way round, both actual resistances are the same just

The fuel guage needs to match the sender in the tank 0-190 ohm for the European version.

I think you have bought the wrong sender. There are several variants, but the biggie is Euro vs US type. There are other minor variatons in resistance that may give less than accurate readings, but in reverse means the wrong type completely.

If its a VDO sender that you have to adjust to suit your tank then its possible to fit the float arm onto the pivot from the wrong side which will give reversed readings, just loosen the screw slide the shaft out and refit from the other side.

Many thanks Spannerman! It is a VDO sender and how stupid of me not to realise that I just need to swap the float round.
