I am trying to fit a fuel gauge to my freeman cruiser but not having much success.
Basically the wiring diagram supplied with the sender and gauge is about as much use as a chocolate kettle!
When connected up the gauge goes to full and back to empty immediately I switch on ignition
I am sure that I am not wiring correctly so can someone please supply an intelligent diagram for me to follow.
Many thanks

If we knew which guage it is an how you have wired it we may be able to answer  :ROFLMAO:

The gauge does not have any name on it
But the three wires are marked
Black ground
Red power
Blue signal input

Wires to be connected to in the loom are red to ignition switch
Red from tank sender should this go to blue or red on gauge
Black is obviously earth.

I think i connected all three reds together!

One sender wire goes to negative, the other goes to the blue on the gauge, shouldn't matter which way around you connect them.

Hi Paul,
Have tried connecting wires again in to boat and gauge just goes from full to empty when ignition on.
Basically the sender has two wires blue and brown
Am attaching blue wire to blue wire on gauge
Attaching brown wire to earth
The other two wires on gauge black and red attaching red to live ignition and black to earth.
Can't understand why gauge simply flips from empty to full and back again?
I must have something wrong on wiring?
Sorry to bother you again but need some expert advice.

You said in post #5 that it works ?

I had it wired up on my desk last night and yes it seemed to work, just wondering if I wired it differently
Not really much to do, just connect the red and black to power and the sender to negative and the other to the signal input. Try swapping the sender wires. Other than that, it's faulty. If you had previously connected one of the sender wires to positive and the other to negative i'd suspect that' fried, you can check that with a multimeter for continuity.
