I think you may struggle to find it anywhere in the UK, except in Industrial quantities, and after answering a lot of impertinent questions.

Meths is basically the same thing, but with an added pong which isn't always too good if you're feeling a bit queasy anyway.....

I spent weeks looking for de-natured alcohol /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and even the chemist couldn't help me.

Not quite the same i`m afraid.
Methylated spirits ("metho") is a mixture of ethyl alcohol (95%) and methyl alcohol (%5). The methyl alcohol is poisonous and is added to prevent the methylated spirits being used as cheap drinking alcohol.
Ethanol's formula is C2H5OH.
Methanol's formula is CH3OH.

And I forgot to add while trying to be a smartarse--Meths works perfectly well in Bayliner hobs----well it worked well in my Searay hob. Can be a sod to light if you dont have any of those super long matches though.
