Had a great trip to cherbourg last weekend, but motored most of the way and back. The good news is it gave me a chance to realy monitor the amount of fuel used in a flat calm sea.

I have a 25 litre tank with 10 litre reserve. The main tank lasted for 10 hours before getting dangerously low.......

So a 21 year old Yanmar 2GM14 (14hp) fitted in a 30 foot jeanneau manages 2.5 litres per hour at cruising speed (ie pretty much full wack)

How does this sound? do I need to get the engine tuned, or is this a reasonable figure.

Cheers

This sounds fine. Also motored from Cherbourg Sunday, 5-6 tons, 24 ft lwl, 2GM20F, 6 knots, 2850 rpm, 2.25 lites/hour.
