Busy time of year for them I guess - so they can charge a premium. .

Well I actually asked for a quote for September, which common sense would dictate that there would be plenty people wanting boats transporting FROM Spain to the UK rather than the other way, so the pricing should work in my favour... or at least that was my logic

I was also quite specific in saying that I was flexible on dates in order to achieve the lowest quote possible

Oh well... plenty more of them to email for quotes I guess, and I'm in no rush (yet)

It turns into a bit of a game of Cat and Mouse after a while and, as I say, as your dates draw nearer, pencils may be sharpened.

I got quotes from Boatshift and Southwest Boat transport (?) - the latter as I was stuck behind him going up Haldon Hill and got his number !

It's £650 more than I was quoted by boattransport.co.uk who quoted £5,600 +VAT... and that wasn't "dependant upon them already having a vehicle travelling to Spain for collection", which to be honest I found rather a cheeky comment of them to slip in.

Perhaps a polite way of telling you they're not very interested.

I have no connection but Simon from Boatshift is a very nice guy. Check him out on twitter, he posts all the time with photos of his deliveries and that is daily so he's very busy. Again, no connection at all, just like the guy.

I wasn't suggesting he/they wasn't professional. Merely that I would have thought a quotation that mentions collecting another boat as a condition of the price would also have included a price for doing it as a single trip on my required dates without collecting another boat, as all the other quotes I received have been - I dread to think how much that would be though.
