A friend of mine has just bought a Sunseeker Thunderhawk 43 with twin Volvo 740's ( 7.4ltr petrol duo prop )
He hasn't used it yet, but does anyone know gal per hour that it should use.
He thinks it's about 30 gph cruising. Is that about right?

That's too low I would guess, assuming "cruising" means planing at 25 knots, not chugging at 7 knots. Surely 50 gph is more like it (for both engines, not each). You did say they were petrols, right?

He reckons 60gph full bore, I'm sure he's looked up the specs for a Tomahawk, not a Thunderhawk, I would think 30 gph is too low.

Nuthin to worry about

What the hell, he only lives once!

Anyway, it's not a mode of transport. You can have a whole day's boating with praps only 1 hr engine running time

Yes but it's a bloody expencive hour. QAB Plymouth charge £5 per gallon. Thats £300 an hour at my/your reconning. Even if we're a bit wrong it's a bloody expencive summer coast hopping trip. At my low average of 100 hours per year, thats thirty grand a year. Ohh well never mind it's good fun!!
