I'm interested in a couple of figures to work out the cruising range . How many litres will this type of boat use at around 22 knots, I'm also interested in displacement speed consumption around 6 to 8 knots.

A rough estimate will help!

We run a regal 3760 with 2x 6lp 315 boat is around 8tonnes and we work on 1.5mpg at a comfortable cruise speed of around 26kts that's about 3100rpm
I'd guess you'll do slightly better but I'd guess around 2mpg ish
Off the plane significantly more mpg but I've never done enough to make an estimate

IIRC the Hardy is on shafts and is semi-displacement whereas I am guessing your Regal is on legs and a planing hull? THat being the case the Hardy may do similar or slightly less on the plane (in theory at least).

At displacement speeds I would guess that it would be 2gph max and probably less, maybe down towards the 1gph mark. Don't have any experience to the Hardy so these are estimates based on the boats I have owned.

At 6 knots I get about 5 litres per hour with a 33ft boat planing hull with twin outdrives. I would have thought a shaft drive boat to be not quite as good as that but not far off, say 6 litres/hr ?
8 knots in mine would be relatively uneconomical so I don't do it.

An advert for a hardy commander says it cruises economically at 15 to 16 knots but doesn't state the litres/hr consumption

I have a Hardy 32 with identical engines (490 hrs). I bought it last year at 14years old. Test report reached 3800 revs and 25knts in Soton Water in calm conditions. I run it at 3000 revs which with clean hull, benign conditions, minimal tide gives around 16knts. Long run (Solent to Dartmouth or To Cherbourg) uses around 50litres/hour. Solent running - much more river running with shorter runs at 3000 revs uses about 30 l/hr. Endurance leaving about 25%in tank is therefore about 20 hrs short hops and 12/13hrs long jaunts.

My 32 has 6LPA-DTP engines 250HP, which I guess are the same or similar to yours (check the Yanmar plate on the engines for the exact spec, as there frequently seems to be confusion about the engine type). Mine are limited to 3400 RPM by Hardy/Barrus. My estimated fuel table is fairly accurate at the bottom and middle speeds but perhaps less so at the top end because I rarely or never go there.
RPM Knots Litres/hour
800 4 6
1000 5 10
1500 7 17
2000 9 29
2500 13 46
3000 19 75
3400 22 106

Another variable will be the props; I don't know whether Hardy always used the same ones. Mine are 19”x 23.5” 4 blade Nickel-Aluminium-Bronze.

Yes regal is planing on legs there used to be a 32 ' hardy a few berths away with planing hull and legs obviously a different model my apologies to the op

Not sure that Hardy made any boats with legs. Now just remembered they did have a couple of planing hulls, late 80s or early 90s that were on legs, their attempt to break into the FairPrinSunseeker market. Both looked decent boats but didn't last long.

LJS, indeed you are correct, they were the Hardy Seawings models, planning hulls and legs... :disgust:
