I try to start a new thread with this topic, not mix it up too much with the very interesting refit project
There are more powerful fuel cells on the market, e.g. here
http://www.fuelcellsystems.co.uk/shop/IRD_Fuel_CElls.html
But of course you also have to take sufficient fuel (Ethanol or Methanol) with you. On a longer trip and extensive use you will need quite some storage. I am not sure how is the supply in your cruising area, in Croatia it is for sure not round each corner, if at all.
At the end it is a compromise, all parameters correspond quite linear: power, weight, consumption and coins to insert.....

Hi HelgeA. Thanks for all that info. I don't wish to rain on parades but I gotta say my reaction is that it is quite a big piece of kit for 4.6Amps @24v, 110 watts. I'm not sure I would live with that space/output trade off. I'm going to google and see what there is at say 500W - that would be pretty useful during overnight anchoring - maybe the power per cc of space consumed gets better with a bigger unit. It's an interesting idea - thanks

Hm, not much to say, it is an easy task. Much more proud I am about my watermaker installation, which was much much more work. I installed Efoy Pro2400, it delivers 3.3-4.5A@24V and consumes 0.9l/kWh of Ethanol (about 2-2.5l/day) which gives about 100Ah a day. This is more then 1 hour generator, will be enough to have the generator running when really 240V are needed, and not just for charging. During a normal trip when we stay 2-3 days at one place it will avoid some discussions with SWAMBO.
I haven't practical experience yet, it was running just an hour and delivered constantly 4.6A. But ambient temperature wasn't that high, during summer it might be less.
I removed the toilet and the washbasin from the never used crew cabin, it gave a nice place for both, FC and WM. Controller is placed just at the entry to the saloon. Installation itself is really easy, just to find the pathway for the cabling. 1.5² sense line and 4² charge line f rom the FC to the domestic battery bank (600Ah), and a RJ45 cable from the FC to the controller. Ethanol canister below, and it is running. Of course we do not need to discuss the price per Ah, but that's the same for many things. The difference between men and boys.....
