Fuel and Water requirements for passage

Wont be for a few years yet as I cant leave work until son is through Uni.

Not sure about your bows, but the catalac is very cut away at the bow (designed with the help of a saucer some would say) such that they have a tendency to rock up at the bow under hobby horse conditions and when coming back down, instead of dropping straight down, will actually be pushed astern. Thus my bulbous bows will be eliptical in shape to help cut down into the wave and avoid slamming, whilst eliminating the tendency to stop the boat dead. It will also add distance to the waterline length.

There is a picture of a catalac with sugar scoops at http://www.bobcatandcatalac.btinternet.co.uk/ under one of the "tips" headings.

yes we both suffer from the same problem, i will probably lengthen my boat by two to three feet to bring the transoms above or very near the water line when she is loaded, bow mods will be a few years down the road (money) yet.....keith

Re: Surfin\'

Oscillation is a problem - when heading dead downwind.
You end up tacking downwind, it doesn't need much because the apparent wind angle is 20-30 up on true wind at any speed.

Let's face it, all the speed record are held by multihulls, even if you have to spend your sailing life going to windward because of the shift.
