My upright fridge freezer at home is not freezing as it should be. The freezer is below the fridge and is not freezing the food as it used to but the fridge appears to remain as cool as before. The compressor seems to be running ok, so what could the problem be?
The black tubing covering most of the rear of the fridge gets hot as does the compressor. Could it be low in refrigerant, ie, gas, and if so what is involved in regassing?

Our standalone freezer got like that and the compressor was running all the time.

Fortunately we did not have to go to Currys ....... Comet were still trading at the time!

Have you tried defrosting it? My fridge stopped working a few weeks ago but freezer was ok. I took the insides out the back of freezer to find almost sold block of ice. Defrosted over night and fridge works again :)

The jury is out on whether its a permanent fix, de-frost timing circuit or some sensor may have packed in.

A new fridge ! I am in the fridge trade, and when mine packs up I will be off to Sainsburys (online).
There, fixed that for you.

I would not buy anything out of Curries nor their partner, PC World. Much better deals and service, both pre sale and after sale, elsewhere. I have bought a few items from Sainsburys (online) and cannot fault the prices or service.

Had ours regassed after the same trouble. 6 months later it needed doing again so got a new one. it wasn't too expensive from a one man repair guy for the regas.
