Having had a couple of expensive failures with compressor fridges I am thinking of changing to the heater/absorbtion plate? type. Does anyone know if they get as cool as a compressor fridge and do they give off a lot of heat?

Many thanks

Re: Fridges --DON\'T

Would not recommend this. The efficiency is awful. They'll drain your battries and you'll still have warm beer. But then I was told the English like warm beer.

Surpriced you had trouble with the compressors. The newer generation Danfoss compressors like the BD35 are very reliable. Only seen installation problems or leakages, but no failures of those compressors.

Why did your previous compressor fridges fail?
I self installed an Isotherm which gradually gave reduced performance probably
due to leakage since I didn't like to give the connectors the "wellie" they needed.
Once the system was refilled and adequately tightened by a professional it
gave good performance for several years before failing due to leakage through
corrosion, but the compressor is mounted in a cockpit locker!
It's compressor replacement works well, but I was advised by the fitter to
remove the "black box" to a dry location every winter.
