A new dryer should be fitted whenever a re-gas is done anyway.

and don't forget that each fridge has a dryer from factory.
on mine it was blocked/gone and refridg man replaced it with a larger one before vaccuming and eventually regassing.

Well the fridge mechanic came out yesterday and re-gassed the fridge and it worked- for a while! Woke up this morning to the fridge not working and an email bill of £120! Is this an average cost of someone to come out and re-gas? I will ring him again today and tell him it's not working ?

That’s why you always need to find the leak and repair it, the gas has to have come out somewhere, the metal pipe work is not naturally leaky, the cost is about right

Apparently the fridge needs a bit of running time with a hot water bottle on the capillary tube in the freezer compartment to get everything moving because stuff has settled at the bottom due to it being a keel cooler and stood still for a while. Seems to be working again.... so far!

Or the system has air contamination within. The moisture in that air then freezes in the capillary tube with the result the fridge stops. I wonder why we not only pressure test but also evacuate to very deep vacuum fridge systems when doing this job properly.
