We are on the boat for a few days and our Weaco HD-160 fridge has decided to pack up. Hopefully it can be repaired as it’s built-in its proving difficult to find a replacement on line that fits the opening. Can any of our fellow owners recommend anyone on the Isle of Wight who may be able to help.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for the kind offer. I have managed to find someone who is coming Thursday to take a look.
The problem is it’s not cooling beyond about 8 degrees although I do think I can hear the compressor running.
If I have no joy with the guy Thursday I’ll be in touch. Thanks again.

This sounds like it is low on gas. Do you know what gas it is on ? If R134a I can get plenty of that and legally too.

Thanks for your offers, the guy came today and said it was the starter, replaced and working fine again.
Appreciate your interest.

Out of curiosity, what is the starter???
You mean the electronics box that has all the spade terminals that power the thing and get input from the thermostat and outputs the current to the compressor?

That’s just what the engineer called it, but by your description it sounds like the same item I saw.

I have replaced my controller on similar fridge. I bought it from Ali Express as these fridges are crazy money new and a replacement controller is criminallly expensive in UK. For £22 I fiitted this myself which is not difficult and it works perfectly. I guess it is the same controller just massively marked up for the UK market.

I will qualify this by saying this was pre covid since then the shipping costs have rocketed from China......

Mine was more of a square shape, but I was also shocked to be charged £130 for the part, on line I discovered afterwards they are around £30! However glad to have it fixed.

living in a rather hot place, I'd spent the extra for an original controller.
Good price though, although I vaguely remember been trashed by some ppl.
Mind, my vertifrigo must be close to 30yrs now, controller is fine, so not the bit of kit that fails easily
