Hi all,

Our Origo RM4202 has stopped working today. I've had it out and checked it's getting both 12V & 240V (which it is). I've emailed Dometic for advice on where to start checking to see if I can repair it, but seeing their spares prices, I'm thinking replacement could be the way forward.

Can anyone recommend a friendly boat / caravan fridge supplier? I'm looking online but it appears every fridge currently for sale is a totally different size!! Wife is very stressed!!

Help would be much appreciated :)

Paul.

Try Penguin refrigeration, Poole or Soton direction, they know their stuff. But be prepared to sit down when you discover the cost.......

I've just gone through the same thing. What are the sizes at your limits, W x H x D?

My choices boiled down to a Waeco CR-50 or CRX-50 or a Webasto Cr49.

£450, £540, and £450, or so, respectively. Eye-watering!!

Paul, before buying new, what are the symptoms. Might need regassing, or a thermostat, or something else simple.

Hi Richard,

Sizes I'm working with are

H 558mm
W 491mm
D 440mm

Symptoms are simply not turning on. Checked power to the unit, all good. Thermostat is turn on. Just totally dead :( Must be an electrical fault in the circuit somewhere.

My fridge stopped working, checked and it was getting 12.7v, was on the list to replace as it was past its best.
New Isotherm acu arrived, installed and didn't work :(
I put a larger 6mm feed direct from the battery, still showed 12.7v but the new fridge worked :)
Tried the old fridge with the new power feed and it worked too :(
Happy with the low consumption Isotherm and at 85L the extra capacity is great.
Gave the old fridge to my mate as his died, two happy boats and a lesson learned about the dark art of electricity.

Thanks Tom, I'll certainly give it a try. My fridge has both 12V & 240V supply and is dead on both, but I'll certainly try it on another 12V source.
