Also agree,Penguin with keel coolers, especially if bound for hot places as no waste heat going into the cabin. Good service every time I have used them, pricey but it only hurts once!!!!!!!!!!!!!

un-equivocally PENGUIN.

I have completely rebuilt my Westerly Ocean lord fridge over the winter, and used the Frigo jobby from Penguin. There were extremely helpful.

What is the insulation like on your existing fridge? Mine was only about 1 1/2 inches and nothing accross the top. Don't bother to put a new fridge system unless you have good insulation, it would be a complete waste of money.

I have split my fridge into 2 sections with the cooling plates in one side, cabale of going to frezer temp, and the other half connected with a termostat driven fan. I now can use iether as a fridge freezer, or as a fridge on both sides, though I am still fiddleing with the temp in the freezer side to get suffient cold into the fridge side.

Another vote for Penguin
Bought a Vitrifrio system (Danfoss BD35F compressor) with a PT20 plate in 06 at SBS for £299.
The electrinic unit is dual voltage, so will accept 12 or 24v. I run mine off 24v at 2.45 amps.
(12v runs at 4.91 amps)

I presume you really want 12v an engine driven compressor can give enormous cooling power with a water cooled condenser and with a well insulated box can give cooling for a day or more. No worries about batteries charging etc.
For 12v you can start with a stand alone portable like Engel or similar brands.
Or you can install a danfoss system into an existing ice box.
The portable can be used at home or in the car but are quite heavy with any decent load of food and drinks. In Oz for many years the Engel was king for off road outback in a vehicle. The alternatives are however becoming more popular. I think modern Engel however draw less current.
It all depends what you want. olewill
