Sterilised the tanks and filled up with fresh water caused water to enter bilge from pipe .

After checking back to hot water tank drain and pressure relief valve found these to be OK. Finally found cracked cockpit shower head.

In future I will try to drain down this shower head with rest of system so ice doesn't crack/break shower head.

In yard informed I was the 4th boat to discover same problem that day.

The shower head at the bathing platform on our boat had exactly the same problem a couple of weeks ago. The cold and water pressure seemed to have dislodged plastic thread on the head from the metal bit at the end of the feed hose. Unfortunaltey the leaky bit was inside the boat, hence fresh water in the bilge! Still, it meant I could mop it and at the same time make the bilge squeeky clean (and dry). Lesson learnt for the next cold snap!

Every winter I had to empty, by totally dismantling, not only the power head but also the complete shower units.

This was on 13 wooden holiday cotages in the Highlands.

If this was not done before the hard frost came then every shower unit not done had to be thrown away.
