Hi.
I’m a novice.

I’m replacibg my fresh water pump in-line strainer. Looks like this: In-line Strainer - 1/2'' hose barbs - fine mesh
I had «fine mesh». But I see there is also the option for «large mesh». I wonder what is best for fresh water (drinking/cooking/cleaning).

I have a similar in-line strainer for the electric bilge pump, and I wonder about the same for that one.

Thank you for your wisdom. Cheers, Rod.

I don't think that it will make a great deal of difference. However, if the strainer is in a place where you can easily see it to check any build-up and thereby easily remove it to clean it, I would go for the fine mesh one as your pump will last longer and the strainers in your taps and shower, if fitted, will be less likely to get blocked.

If the filter is installed somewhere which is difficult to get at such that it will not be checked or removed very easily or very often, I would go for the coarse version.

The filter is there to protect downstream equipment such as the pump, valves and taps so I'd go for a fine mesh - I think mine is about 1mm. There shouldn't be much to remove anyway if your filling your tank from a public water supply.
