French Marine at SYH?

Another vote for Billy. Sorted out a warranty problem for me. He used to be the foreman engineer at Fox's before setting up on his own.

Just asked them for an estimate for oil change, filters and coolant. Labour £180, Oil about £60. Guess I'll do it myself! No sign of the recession there.

HOW MUCH!!!!???? Labour £180 !!!????

STOP PRESS - Bernie is no longer doing upholstery, she's doing oil changes instead.

Been tucked up by them a few years ago and now avoid them at all cost. A friend of mine had a similar experience.

If you would like to send me a PM I'd be happy to recommend someone I have used for a number of years if you would find it useful.

Total bargain. Bet they could offer you the time slot of your choice. Interesting to know what oil could possibly come to 60 quid.

At the underquoted rate of £43/Hour I guess they are charging full bifter for the travel time too.

I am now in possession of the latest YM series engine full workshop manual. I can be buttered up for very little.

Oil about £60? Hmmm, depends how much your engine takes.
If its 10 litres its a rip off.
I have the misfortune of needing 25 Litres for an oil change /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
However, I do have a 'contact' who gets oil at a good rate from an agricultural supplier in 25 litre tubs, which is very reasonable.
Might be worth buddying up with someone else and buying in bulk like that.
For filters, always go to places like motor factors and buy Fram or Crossland instead of the rip off marine branded ones.
Cheers
