Good evening,

Does anyone know where I can find areas of jurisdictions for coastguard stations on both sides of the English Channel?

I'm used to generally coastal cruising but now I have a newer boat thinking about crossing the channel to maybe Gravelines sometime this season so in the process of doing research.

Basically I want to know how far dover mrcc's jurisdiction across goes and then which mrcc takes over in France, so that should the proverbial hit the fan I know who I need to call.

Cheers

If something hits the fan then you need a mayday or a panpan. You don't need to ask a particular coastguard.
I suspect the jurisdiction will then be down to national boundaries but I am sure the coastguards liaise in emergencies.
For less urgent stuff I have even had Solent Coastguard respond when I have been a few miles out of Cherbourg when I called them by name.

Yes, from the various things I have looked at online, it seems that is the case and if I was across the other side and had a minor issue it looks like I could still call dover coastguard and they would hear me, but I guess I was thinking there might be a chart somewhere which areas of jurisdiction so I can know for sure ahead of any passage who controls what area of water in order to make sure I have the correct comms channels right from the start.

Cheers :-)

If you need a tow-in on the French side be prepared to cough-up a few £s.

UK Coastguard and CROSS Griz Nez both work up to the Median Line, the mid way divide between France and England.

In reality, a Mayday / Panpan call will be handled by the first station to acknowledge, and then coordination passed to the service in who's search and rescue region the last known position is.

For all CG radio calls this side of the line, use of the callsign "UK Coastguard" will get a response.
