French Canals

We are thinking about taking a full season to get to the Med via the french canals.

As we would probably be doing a series of 2 week holidays, is there anywhere safe on the canals that you can leave a 40 ft Yacht? (draft 1.5Mt)

I bought Bristows book on the canals, and whilst almost every other bit of info is available - I can find no references to longer term mooring as opposed to overnight.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

All the marinas listed as well as a lot of the town quays are fine. We are leaving our 15.4 yacht near Dijon for the winter and there are numerous marinas eg H20 marina on the Bourgogne canal - they laos have a good web site. www.bourgogne-marine.com or h2ofrance.com for example. We will be paying approx 21GBP a month as we exceed 15m. We are also locking into the harbour as we are leaving the boat for 4 months and don't want to stress about floods etc.
