We entered at Givet (north Fr.) with the mast and found the worst thing to be anything flying a Dutch flag. They like to only put a bow line on in the locks and then use the motor to keep the stern in? This creates a current and twice we hit the wall of the lock on the opposite side of the lock resulting in a lot of hours to reglue the damn thing....of course this is not an "allowed procedure", but it was our experience.
