French canals 2013

An update on one or two places for anyone interested. Chalons-en-Champagne was superb, helpful guys in the office, good showers and washing machine. Lovely place. For those coming down the canal entre de Champagne et Borgogne, Vitry-le-Francois has a fairly new office, with a shower and toilet, water and electricity on the quay, the supply points look to be new. 10euros a night inclusive. St- Dizier is a bit of a non event, moorings opposite the swimming pool and car park are ok, and there is a supermarket close by. There is a large supermarket adjacent to the hdp at Bayard, a very pretty location. At the moment Joinville is covered in weed, we are at the small Hotel de la Vinaigrerie halte, water, electricity, shower, washing machine, tumble drier and wi-fi. 5 or 6 euros a night depending on what facilities you use, and probably the mood of the guy in the office, who was very helpful and only charged us 5euros, including wi-fi. Large supermarche, brico, garden center two minutes walk away. The public halte a little further up is untenable, as it is full of weed. It's all due to the hot weather I expect. One or two ecluses have been faulty, no change there, but as usual, the VNF chaps and chapesses are excellent. :)

I wonder how new! When we were there we plugged in and managed to melt the socket after using a fair amount of power. It didn't cut out and we only realised when we checked after the power on the boat flickered. We left after that.
