Hi all,

The canopy on my Freeman 22 Mk 2 is knackered, and needs replacing. I was thinking about possibly getting a hard top one instead, but Freeman want £1180 for it! A standard soft top is £499, still more than I wanted to pay (recession, credit crunch, you get the picture) though.

Firstly, what are people's experiences/thoughts on the hard top? Is it a good idea? I was thinking it would be good for more head room and make it feel more open when the canopy is up. But in the summer it can't really be taken down can it?

Secondly, does anyone know where I might get either hard or soft top canopy cheaper? I've searched Google, eBay etc. but to no avail.

Cheers,

Chris

Yes, the Birchwood 25 was built with a hard top with sliding sunroof.

(And although it is good in bad weather it gets very hot in the summer!)

Wow, cool idea! I'm not sure my little Freeman is big enough though lol. I'm thinking I may have to settle for a soft top. Any ideas on cheap vendors anyone?

Presumably you got those prices from Sheridian line at Moulsford (aka John Freeman sales), there actualy not that bad and I doubt you'll do much better, the hard top seems quite good value and includes the hood and side screens, they do look very good too. I bought a hood for a 25ft sportcruiser 8 years ago and it cost me £800 for cash, my present boat (32ft) came with a new hood and a receipt for £2500 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
