Good evening guys

I'm a newbie so please go easy on me!

Just wanted to ask if anyone can recommend a good app or on-line service where you can plot a course and look for refueling stops, too.

For example, if I wanted to do a sizeable journey and take a motor boat from Portishead, down through the Bristol Channel across to Europe, down past Brest and through Biscay, down the west coast of France, around Portugal and Spain, then hug the coast of eastern Spain, southern France, the western coast of Italy, up then back down the Adriatic, and then mess around a load of the Greek islands, whats the best tool to use to do such a journey(s)

Thanks in advance and a bid hello from the South Best.

If you’re going to burn that much fuel, in a boat large enough to make the passage, I’d probably not scrimp on a free app and get some decent plotters…

Navionics Chart viewer on their website is an option but you’d really need to consider a subscription or multiple subscriptions to cover your area.
Savvy Navy is another option.

OpenCPN is free.
You do need charts though but good worldwide charts are available.
I make my own charts but that is quite a complex process - georeferencing etc.

But don't be fooled by OpenCPN being free - like lots of open source software is is a quality solution.
For example the AIS plotting feature is (IMO) "second to none".

I use OpenCPN as a backup plotter.
The Raymarine system runs the boat and OpenCPN operates alongside - driven by a PC and connected to the Raymarine monitors
I used it hard last week - here's a photo of one of my displays.
This pic was taken as we were cruising round the north coast of Ibiza.

Fairly straight forward what is going on.
But, remember, this is FREE open source software.
