My 9 year old Garmin 300 had the "curly cords" to the handsets working, but in very bad condition. Affected readers may be delighted to learn that Garmin Europe are offering a possible free exchange for a new Garmin 315 and handsets if the cords are badly deteriorated! Hats off to them! You may have to push a bit.
The downside is the plugs for the new handsets do not fit into the sockets from the original 300 VHF. I suggested we could splice the new sockets onto the originally installed cable, especially for the flybridge where it will be a nightmare to install a new cable, considering it was probably put in by the builder about 30 seconds after they laid the keel! Garmin assure me it cannot work by splicing onto the old multicore cable, but I find it unlikely. Any ideas, Please?
