I got an email a few hours ago offering a free 30 day trial on one of 5 IRC magazines.
Clicked the links and they want to charge me... Sod that...

Same here bit misleading I think ,looked at buying ipad sub and they want 84€ it's only approx65€ for hard copy in news agent what a shame

You do get a free 30 day trial to all the magazine but you will have to put your payment details in to access this, you then decide whether you want to continue with this after the 30 days, you simply go into your settings and cancel.
As its linked to your device, which you choose from the logos at the bottom your details will already be in your account.
Apologies if you feel cheated its simply a marketing email pushing our digital issues.
And I take offence about the funding of the one skiing holiday......I have two to pay for

Erm it is for 30 days, you do not have to buy it. It's a free 30 day trail after which point you pay for it if you want.

Fair point, but it didnt say that. I wasted 30 mins of my time trying to get it to work, believing that it was something I was doing wrong.

It's called "negative option billing" and is used extensively in scam websites. Not saying that's the case with IPC (I have the email as well inviting me to the trial) and they have made the process quite clear.
Part of best practice for NOB is to send a reminder email to cardholders starting 5 days before the first time you charge them, to give them the option to cancel their account while still in the trial period.
So are IPC doing this?
