Thread drifting seems to be a natural phenomenon. It became noticeable in newgroups almost from the day the net got going. So it came as no surprise to me to see it here. I wonder if the provision of the proposed chat room will lessen it somewhat, denizens of the forum I await your thoughts.

IMHO chat room not good for me personally, because I c/would not participate real time. Have other stuff to do, so check this forum only now and again, make a few posts, then clear off for a bit. But that's just MHO, I'm not pouring cold water on chat room idea if others think it wd be good, just giving my $0.02

Chat room good idea - but like JFM I visit, reply and leave. Chat could be a fun option though. However how long does it take a surveyor to write up his report? But I digress, have you seen the price of spam?

Surely you're not starting to tear your hair out because the surveyor is taking sooooooo Loooooooong to write a report are you - you said it would be easy peasy to get your keys tomorrow and I believed you. I've bought a copy of your boats monthly mag and everything ready for the party on Saturday evening. Mind you there aren't many boat pictures inside Fiesta but are any of those ladies coming to the bash?

Strangely enough I can get ICQ to work "of a fashion" but I have never yet been able to use any of the internet chat rooms from this computer and windows messaging is a complete non starter.

I think Kim and the gang may well have their work cut out with this proposed chat room.

I've most definitely got it but as ever have absolutely no idea what to do with it!!

You are probably behind a security firewall, you will be if the pc is at work. Somewhere in the ICQ setup there is an option to work in a different way to avoid the Firewall problem.
Try the support area on the ICQ web site for more info.
Also, with ICQ make sure you are not selected to be listed in the ICQ White Pages. If you are you get a load of messages selling you stuff or wanting to do dirty things to you.

(I think it is www.icq.com)

I hope this helps. ICQ is great if you have a load of friends who also use it. Not much use if you dont!
