No - but we did experience one in Chester. It sounded like hailstones on my conservatory roof and it looked like a wall of fog such was the density. It also went very dark - but no thunder.

Here In South Wales, When the weather started to look promising again, but a huge downpoor of golfball like droplets hit the coservatory roof, which cleaned the garden of all the pine tree needles but they all ended up in the pool. And we had some exciting thunder and lightning, which was very pretty. It all ended within 15 mins ;-)
We were reasonably lucky in N. lincolnshire but Newark had 4" of rain yesterday. 11feet of fresh at Cromwell lock on the R.Trent!! Lock keeper at Torksey told about a narrow boat that left him at 9am and didnt get too Cromwell until 8pm!!
