Frey Bentos - eugh, I would rather eat a dead cormorant.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think Fray Bentos marketed this as Chicken and Mushroom.... it was by introducing the posh Bentos (Cormor.. Chicken and Mushroom for example) that it all went wrong.
Left their roots they did...To far and at dizzying speeds up the culinary ladder.
I blame these fangled Microwaves and fancy chefs, they led the Bentos board astray!

Mmm - got me thinking, cormorant eau gratin? sauteed with port sauce?
[/ QUOTE ] A port wine sauce will not compliment their strong fishy taste. A white wine sauce is better. "Au gratin" though is perfect. I'm not so sure about your "grated cheese and breadcrumb water (eau) suggestion though. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Dont you find that the feathers clog up your throat and the beek a little hard to swallow, and thats before the beek causes a blockage in the heads after a painfull passing /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

They are closing two factories and expanding a further three factories. They aren't stopping production of anything, just moving production around
[/ QUOTE ] Do you mean:
THEY ARE CLOSING TWO FACTORIES AND EXPANDING A FURTHER THREE FACTORIES. THEY AREN'T STOPPING PRODUCTION OF ANYTHING, JUST MOVING PRODUCTION AROUND.

[/ QUOTE ] Silly, you pluck them and prepare them just like swans, albatrosses and almost all other birds. Like all seabirds it is important to discard the liver as it is toxic to humans.

The Petition worked then /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The next thing will be questions about tinned Jersey Royals and peas - to accompany said FB pies.

I'm gobsmacked - beside myself - sit down Peter - that's me - so I sit down beside myself - hello!!!!
There are 2 facts that cannot be disputed in sailing life,
1. If you own a gaffer - old (wooden) boat with lots of varnished woodwork - more bits of string than you can poke a stick at - paper charts - pencils with leads, brass (everything), oil lamps, defaced Blue and a Bretton cap - your cooking stove has only 1 burner and that's meths or spirit - and you cook everything in one pot - normally beans with accompaniments - never FB pies.
2. If you own a AWB then you have a flashy 2 burners top, grill & oven, but in your stores you have a couple of FB pies, tinned Jersey's and either peas or carrots and after a long days "wet" sail you break out the FB's and settle down to a decent hot meal when at anchor.
You would NEVER consider eating such food ashore BUT afloat it has to be FB's.
I think you've been sniffing your Breton Cap or something.
I love Fray Bentos. My comments were aimed at that heathen Brendan who is known to mock the Fray Bentos with monotonous regularity.
Anyway you boat must be posh. "Tinned Jersey Royals", on my AWB you're lucky if you get Tesco Basic. As for Spirit Stoves I find the Fuel keeps going AWOL when the crew get restless.
