Fraudulent yacht broker gets 12 months

Not sure if this is relevant in this case. If the boat was sold in England, English law will apply and the fact that the boat was taken to Spain will only make recovery more time consuming, it will not alter the fact that the sale was subject to English law.
If the boat was taken to Spain to market it and the sale was contracted in Spain it will be subject to Spanish law unless the contract specifically refers to a different jurisdiction to which it is subject.

If the "seller" had no title, can a sale take place at all, anywhere?
A fraudulent or misguided transaction may have taken place , but as a sale surely it is void, so the location is not relevant is it, it cannot be a sale, can it?

In a car rental company situation one of our cars disappeared and was relocated in somewhere like Denmark. Our
London based legal team instructed us to seize it. The local lawyer told us it would be stealing to do so. The London lawyers had great difficulty accepting this.

For the anecdote the ambassador of a middle east state rented a Rolls Royce and later he reported it stolen. It was later located in his country.

"Braddons Hill Road, Torquay," - that's the road I used to live on. And no, I'm not an ex broker typing this from the clink!

The case (and sentence) was last year, so with good behaviour the perpetrator should be out by now. Sure it is not you!
