Fox's Chandlery Closing for Winter on Sundays

Could be I have moved from Pinn Mill to Levington for boat storage.
Foxes received a regular cash injection from me as I used to drive past. To shop in Foxes could sometimes be a challenge the choice in music I had to have The Samaratans on speed dial.
Now SYH is having share of hard earned cash, and as a bonus the Levington toy shop does a mean prawn sandwich plus no REM blasting out of the noise system.

You had REM when you shopped? Must have been funday-monday, usually it's the only other place other than my car I get to hear prog rock describing the decline and fall of modern civilization. Still they're a cheerful bunch so maybe it works for them.

I have driven past them many times, (note the word "past") as just the word "chandlers" send shivers down my spine and straight into my wallet. What sort of stuff do you guys buy there, you can't get online cheaper or that you need there and then?

What I get from a Chandlery, to quote from REM is smiling happy people.
My luck at buying on the internet is poor, I prefer the interaction of a conversation to accertain what I am buying is what I really need.
Foxes have always managed to confirm what I need and price is as good or better than sole less (east coast) inter web

In many cases Foxs are as cheap, or cheaper, the other internet sites. If you're passing, it saves the post, at least.

We're lucky in the Ipswich area, as we also have Seamark Nunn, which can also be competitive.

The stinking customer service let me down big time though just the other week. Disgusting attitude to my "impossible problem"..... an automatic water pump which wasn't automatic as the box said?????

+ 1 on that - Edit - This post applies to Seamark Nun not Foxes The quote system works strange

I have always had excellent customer service from Fox's...... Yes, you can usually find things a few quid cheaper online but at Fox's there is a huge reservoir of knowledge and advice on things technical that you don't get when you buy online, there will always be "emergencies" when you need something immediately, if not yesterday and like so many other things, it is another case of "use it or lose it"........

I think that perhaps Fox's haven't been doing their market research. Replies on here seem to suggest their main trade is (1) retirees who'll be around during the week anyway, and (2) other passing on their way to and from boats at Woolverstone, Pin Mill and Shotley.

No wonder there isn't enough trade when they open 10 to 4 (was it?) on Sunday. They obviously needed be open 8 to 10 and then 5 to 7!

I've found Fox's will often match online and other chandleries prices if you ask them. Seamark Nunn are also competitive. I use them both as I can visit on my way to Felixstowe.
