Four Winns V408

Thanks PY,

I came across it on their site and thought it was a great boat...but then I like Fourwinns. Still an Issue over here with bigger USA sportscruisers...they just are not as popular and tend to depreciate more. The only exception seems to be the Canadian Doral...

Cheers

agree it is a great looker, I think it is one of the most interesting modern type sport cruiser coming out of the USA in its class
the US$ is also not very competitive right now as this might have been more interesting to come by if it was 6 months ago

but the V408 gets top marks in some solutions, look at the galley for example that is massive for a boat its size

Yes,

They have three seperate layouts, Very open day boat, Part open with Sofa bed and European (2 cabins 2 Heads!)

Seem very sensible to me! I wonder if Sea Ray will follow on?

Cheers

yes its a great looking sports cruiser,
and its amazing how many nice and practical features they have been able to put in, (re online brochure)
Will this set a new wave or new generation of US sports cruisers, competing the Europeans ?

Oh, one thing I forgot to ask is, how much will it retail for over here? Shipped, inc VAT and duty on the water, not the converted off the US web site - cos you cant buy a boat for those prices, even in the states.

Just had a look on the site, and while you cant spec the 408 you can spec her larger sister, the 458.

I ran a pretty standard spec for that size of boat, adding the option you would normally expact from Sessa, Fairline, Princess, Cranchi, Absolute etc etc and the cost if quite hefty. OK, so it does have IPS 600s as standard so i suppose that adds a bit, but I think the Italian and Fairline boats have this also.

Anyway, spec is standard boat plus:

Flagpole and holder (flag not included) $208
Swim platform, aft Extended swim platform - delete $-6,400
Real teak swim platform $7,954
Table, teak w/mount, transom $1,100
Cockpit Flooring, real teak $8,577
Head and Shower Area Gray water system, w/holding tank $754
Head, overboard discharge (includes direct overboard discharge interlock switch) $1,000
Required Inland freight $16,162 (this is not a deletable option)

Total cost is $740,000

Which is £477,419 (on a good day) plus tax and import duty and shipping.

I reckon shipping is probably £10,000 - VAT equates to £71,612.90 and import duty £9,070.96

So a total on the water price is going to be around £570,000 - which sounds like a lot. I dont know the current prices, but what does a Targa 44 or Sessa 46 cost now? (I use the T44 by the way as I think you get the same amount of boat, just laess swim platform).

I think you would get a V45 for under £500k and to me that is a much prettier boat (not to mention easier to sell on etc etc).

While the $ stays strong, I think boats like this will not find a market. If we get back to $2/£ then it might be a player. It looks nice, and has some good ideas but the price is OTT for what it is.
