I think the weather has turned scottish. Miserable and damp last night. Miserable wet and windy today. :(

Went to unfurl headsail this lunchtime. Jammed! Tried all the usual, but no luck. Top bearings I think. Weren't far off Nazare so nipped in to top off diesel and check fuller whilst not bouncing. Well stuck. Have seen bird caged forestay so not gonna force the issue. Boat is having self tacking jib fitted in new base port so earplugs in and go.

Been in Nazare before so familiar with diesel routine of nipping up to garage to get pump turned on. In and out in less than an hour. Got chocolate croissant s so crew happy.

Anyway, hope to be at St Vincent tomorrow late afternoon but will be irritatingly out of range for the sweaty sock football!

Is this bateau really only 3 yrs old??
Less than. Lightly used. Irritating faults like wind speed nanometer jammed up, etc.

But a very nice yacht, easy to handle in harbour with saildrive and twin rudders. Very comfortable at sea especially with following waves.

As part of the package the boat came with a big inflatable. The deckboards for it are very heavy and have been lashed to the at cockpit deck...with a flippin big 20hp four stroke engine on top. Hasnt improved sailing ability!

Shame about headsail, lots of breeze from astern last night would have had us romping. Instead a bit of surfing down waves off Lisbon but noisy donk. Rain too...

Sunny now though got kit dried from last night but a cloud front and stronger winds chasing us. Should be at next wpt Cape St Vincent in a couple of hours. Last leg beckons.

Anemometer with spell checker. I wonder if some fat ass seagull sat on it once?

Anyway, the headsail will be off in the next week or two as a self tacking jib is gonna be fitted. Roller and wind whizzer can get sorted at same time.

Homeward bounders. Trafalgar to port, lovely sunny day in the Straits with a light following breeze.
Took photos of the tide streams from my old Straits Sailing Handbook. Nice to be able to work the tide streams. Even on a neapy day. At least ten other yachts around us and the shipping lanes as busy as ever.
Last diesel transferred. Last damp foulies worn...till the next one!

Job done.

Spent the night on reception, shifted to berth post paperwork this morning.

Dropped the headsail...bit brisk wind but it gave in. Found the top roller very stiff. Probably full of crap. Top protective plastic ring adrift looks like some kinda circlip missing. Hopefully with a bit of effort it can be recovered without dropping forestay. Yay.

Flight home tomorrow. Via....Barcelona! Oh well, 77 euros including bags.

What next? Probably a few day sails on my own yacht.

Then on about july 7th, gonna make it third time lucky now restrictions are off for a whizz over to La Palma. Onwards and upwards :)
