Foulness

St T has been away from her mud berth for all of two weeks now (from Medway to Brighton), so I was gobsmacked to see long (we're talking a foot at least) bushes of growth on the rudder, and also on the keels as I was walking along the pontoon studying her on Saturday. Very pretty really, but not ideal for actually getting any serious forward motion.

Is this normal, or do we just have truly rubbish anti-fouling? Did we actually apply pro-fouling, encouraging the stuff to grow at an alarming rate? I've just noticed that our log has stopped working too - is this likely to be as a result of the fouling? It's also worse on one side than on the other - an effect of one side of the boat spending more time in the sunsheeeine...?

Ideas, anyone?

What do you expect, the poor old A/F people spend lots of time and money to develop a new A/F, and whenever they find a halfway decent mix it gets banned so they have to start again. I didnt bother this year, still got remains of last years erodible on, and seems as effective as most peoples new stuff !

Hello Justine

I am impressed with your growth rate! I have been in the water since April using the cheapo (or inexpensive) Compass stuff and only have a light sliming.

What anti-fouling have you been using?

Regards
Cameron

Ah yes,I'd recommend Miracle Grow antifouling for a superior crop.Is it edible?Just to let you know the barnacles have now reached the Medway(must be a hardy breed)and are presently doing their best to make sure everyone obeys the speed restriction.
