There is a new local London Array Wind Farm Notice to Mariners notifying cable works between the Sub Station (SS1) and Turbine E.15. SS1 is adjacent to Foulger's Gat, E.15 is 'in-field'. The works involve quite a few vessels including an hotel vessel. The works will take place from 1st March for 2 to 3 weeks subject to weather. From time to time, there will be or can be restrictions that might affect Foulger's Gat. The Notice is too large (7MB) for me to attach this to the thread so I suggest should anybody need to use Foulger's Gat during that period, you should ring the Duty Co-ordinators 01843 855795 for daily circumstances. I will be back home (hopefully) for next Monday's update and I will attach images then:

Text of the Notice:

All mariners are advised that the Cable Lay Barge (CLB) ”BokaBarge-82”, operated by Boskalis, will be onsite from 01st March 2022 for approximately 2 weeks to carry out cable repair operations on the SS1-E15 cable at the following location within the London Array Wind Farm. The CLB will be operational within 500mm of Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) E15 whose coordinates are: Latitude: 51°37.493’N Longitude: 001°27.609’E (WGS-84) .

The barge will utilise a variety of systems and techniques to perform the works. • Cable Extraction using Controlled Flow (CFE) techniques • Cable Installation • Cable Burial using Controlled Flow (CFE) techniques • Anchor operations • Diving Operations These vessels will be supported by three tugs (AHTs), two Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) and one Accommodation Vessel (AV): • AHT #1: Costal Crown • AHT #2: Costal Challenger • AHT #3: Brutus • CTV #1: Spectrum 1 • CTV #2: Spectrum 2 • AV #1: Ndurance Cable Lay/Jointing Barge: BokaBarge-82 The BokaBarge-82 will be supported by Tugs and Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV). The Tugs will perform anchor handling operations. The Barge will conduct the cable replacement work, including Cable Extraction and Installation. Where required diving operations will also be undertaken from the barge to support the works.

Support Vessels Anchor Handling and Towing Tugs AHT #1: Coastal Crown The AHT Barney will perform Anchor Handling operations for the duration of the works. This vessel will be operating along the complete cable route supporting the replacement/installation/towing operations as required.

AHT #2: Coastal Challenger The AHT Costal Challenger will perform Anchor Handling operations for the duration of the works. This vessel will be operating along the complete cable route supporting the replacement/installation/towing operations as required.

AHT #3: Brutus The AHT Brutus will perform Towing and Anchor Handling operations for the duration of the works. This vessel will be operating along the complete cable route supporting the replacement/installation/towing operations as required.

The BokaBarge-82 will be supported by two crew transfer vessels.

Accommodation Vessel The Works will be supported by an offshore Accommodation Vessel, anchored to the South of the Wind Farm.

Planned Restricted Access Zones The works are expected to commence on 01st March 2022 on cable SS1-E15 and shall continue until the project is complete, expected duration 2-3 weeks, excluding adverse weather. Cable Works The BokaBarge-82 is an anchored vessel deploying between six and eight anchors with wires of up to 1000 m from the anchor. Each anchor shall be marked with a can buoy as shown below in figure 2 by the yellow “pennant buoy.” If the anchor wire crosses other subsea assets an additional buoy will be deployed as shown below by the orange “midline buoy.”

A 1250m radius restricted zone will be put in place centred on the vessel. These restricted zones will be in place when the vessels are operational, during inter field transit and port calls. If access is required to this zone for non-project traffic, authorisation must be requested from the Boskalis Coordinator or the respective vessel/barge. The Mooring will consist of 8 x 10-tonne Delta Flipper anchors deployed on up to 1000m wire from the barge centre. As a minimum, each anchor will be marked using a yellow can buoy complete with radar reflector and yellow flashing light.

Diving Operations Prior to commencing diving operations, notifications will be transmitted via VHF channel 16 to all local traffic, providing the following information: • Location where diving will commence. • Implementation of additional 500m Diver Exclusion Zone. If required, the Barge can be contacted directly on channel 16 for further information relating to activities currently being undertaken. Accommodation Vessel The Ndurance is an accommodation vessel supporting operations. A 500m radius restricted zone will be put in place centred on the vessel. The vessel will be anchored south of the Wind Farm between Foulger’s Gat and Fisherman’s Gat. These restricted zones will be in place when the vessel is at anchor. The Anchor Spread will consist of two anchors extending approximately 150m from the bow and stern running East/West. It should be observed that neither anchor has surface buoys deployed. Foulger’s Gat The Vessels will be involved in marine operations in proximity to Foulger’s Gat. The barges are restricted in its ability to manoeuvre, as are the anchor handling vessels when running anchors and towing. A wide berth should be given to these vessels and operations in accordance with the good practice of seamanship.
