For a bit of 'fun', this image shows how we will have to use Foulger's when the Wind Farm is finished.

The magenta 'arrowed' line is mine; the rest is by the London Array.

Going to be different I think.

Here's a projection of positions plotted on Imray ID10 - just the turbines around the edge of the Gat and approach and Sub Station 1 which is on the eastern edge of Foulger's.

Southern Approach 'avenue' is 0.55nm wide. Nearest the rhumb line through Foulger's comes to a turbine is 0.19nm or 352 metres approx. That might be a new experience in a blow!

No, the gap is there; it's just not very big! If you check out the detail (don't bother!), there are no B14, C16, D18 and E20 turbines which represent the gap for Foulger's. The approach 'avenue' is a standard avenue width and presumably thought sufficient for our purposes - I guess it is. I suppose it is a bit like yesterday in Bradwell Marina. I walked down a spur with no boats either side and felt quite vulnerable and wobbly when had there been boats there I would not have given it a second thought. Generally we wouldn't give a second thought to going down a buoyed channel 0.4nm wide but with whirling blades marking the channel? Not the most comfortable 'til we get used to it. Maybe they should be painted green and red either side of the Gat? Presumably Long Sand Inner will be placed strategically for the turn? Maybe I'll ask but I guess nobody might have thought yet.

Another buoy located at the start of the correct 'avenue' on the South side of the array could be useful so you don't choose the wrong one.

I'm just more than a little dissapointed that the gap appears to have shrunk from 1 mile to less than half that without any visible resistance from those who are supposed to be protecting our interests.

those who are supposed to be protecting our interests.

There is little evidence that the RYA fulfils this role to the satisfaction of cruising sailors. Who has our interests at heart except ourselves. Send them email, write to your MP but don't expect the RYA to know where the East Coast is (Chichester Harbour probably :D).
