Picking up on earlier threads we have launched a reporting forum for those of you that have had bad encounters with fishing markers and/or rubbish in the water.

Please go to <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.ybw.com/cgi-bin/forums/postlist.pl?Cat=&Board=fouled>http://www.ybw.com/cgi-bin/forums/postlist.pl?Cat=&Board=fouled</A>

Will you publish the results of your survey? After nearly 20 years of sailing professionally in the areas most quoted I have only once been troubled, so would be very interested in what others might have encountered.

On a round the IoW trip a couple of years ago, as a club decided that we wouldn't go inshore between Freshwater Bay and St Cats anymore. I caught a floating rope, 100's of feet to the weight, two other boats also fouled. One boat caught twice. People on foredeck and standing on seats etc looking for the way out of the maze.

Since then, anytime I see any sort of float, I give them a wide berth. Still caught three times since then, everytime in open water

I agree - although only sailing for about 5 years and not for a living I have seen hundreds of the things usually marked with crappy old black or blue bottles but have never caught one.

Since I have seen so many, I'm sure I have had just as many near misses on ones I haven't seen but lady luck has always been looking out for me.

Chris
