As it says in the title really... I type in some waypoints and then next time I go down the the boat, they're not there.

I used to think that it happened when I started the engine with voltage spikes, but now I have starter and house batteries separated and it still keeps doing it.

Anyone got any ideas?

i bet the internal lithium battery is goosed. When you power down this cell should keep the RAM juiced to keep your wpts. They dont last forever, you can change them yourself but if your not to happy doing it somewehre like the service centre on ebay, or othe electronic place would do it.

regards smeaks

Do you have your manual.....It seems there may be two ways of holding in memory and also storing info through battery change.....I forget the details but remember reading it. This may help you in future.

I just found an online manual which proved a lot of help..

I should have looked there before asking on here, but SWMBO is out and I was feeling lonely /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I do have the manual on the boat....never understood why they had two different memory locations but I believe you can move way points to another location to store them over long periods of switch off.....I run mine everytime I visit the boat. Not sure if it helps! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You can do a test to get the Furuno to check its internal battery.
the button sequence to initiate the test is in the manual.

Actually the Furuno sends you a message if the battery is low.....Go to menu and messages and see what it says /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i was losing waypoints on mine when i had failed to shut down the unit using its own power-off button - say by turning off the circuit breaker or if it shut down due to low voltage.

furuno said it was an internal 'bios' problem and i needed to take it in to a supplier for an update. i took mine to Greenham Regis in Shamrock Quay, Southampton. the update cured the problem.

Please bear in mind that this was back in 2004 and i would have hoped that they had sorted that problem by now.

I think ours is a 2004 model as well. and sometimes we are a bit naughty and just turn it off at the circuit breaker, so thanks for the tip, I see if I can get an update for it.
